About
the club
The Genesee
Volley Tennis Club is the premiere tennis club in Livingston
County, New York. The club is a
not-for-profit corporation governed by a volunteer Board of Directors of 15 members.
A brand new
state-of-the-art Har-Tru clay tennis court constructed on the grounds of the historic Hartford House at 17 Avon
Road in the Village of Geneseo has been leased by the club. Connoisseurs of tennis know that Har-Tru is the best surface for
long-lasting, fun rallies and is the easiest on the body too!
35 Charter Members helped
construct the
court in June 0f 2008. Over 20 new families have joined them since membership was
opened to the public in August of that year. In 2009, the club added a grass court which is now open for play as well.
Over 50 of our members
played in the 2009 Doubles Leagues. The club also held Championships this past summer in
Men's and Women's Singles, Mixed Doubles and Open Doubles and runs a
Challenge Ladder in Mixed Doubles and Open Singles. (Open means men and
women compete in the same draw or ladder)
New players at all levels of ability are always welcome! Club
pro "Biff" Strong also offers private lessons and group clinics for all
levels and ages of players, including Quick Start Tennis for children
5-10.
